The following exhibition was created by students in Professor Walter Reich’s course on “Holocaust Memory” (listed as HONR 5701 and IAFF 0702).  All members of the Honors Program community–including all students, faculty, administration and advisory board members–are invited.

Holocaust Remembrance and Genocide Awareness Week [Recommended Event]

Check out these events as part of GW Hillel, Kappa Alpha Psi, and SAFI’s Holocaust Remembrance and Genocide Awareness Week. The events will serve as a memorial to victims of the Holocaust, allow students of all backgrounds to take an active role in remembering the many victims of the Holocaust, and heighten awareness of genocide across the world.

The three events of the week will be:

Name Reading in Kogan Plaza – Monday, April 8th from 1pm-4pm in the mid-campus quad section of Kogan Plaza.  Students will have the opportunity to read the names aloud of those individuals who perished in the Holocaust.

Memorial Service – Monday, April 8th in Marvin Center Room 308 from 6:00pm-7:30pm.  A 10-15 minute memorial service will be held in honor the victims followed by a Holocaust survivor’s story.

Panelist Discussion – Wednesday, April 10th in Marvin Center Room 413-414 from 7pm- 8pm.  Panelists will discuss the Holocaust, issues in human rights, and contemporary genocide.  The last 15 minutes will be open to questions from the audience.  Dinner will be provided.

“The Tibetan Code of Happiness” – [Recommended Event]

This Thursday (April 4th), Khenpo Sodargye of the Laung Gar Buddhist academy in China will give a talk titled “The Tibetan Code of Happiness.” The talk will take place at GWU’s Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre, Marvin Center (800 21st Street NW), 6:30pm. Khenpo Sodargye is one of the leading Tibetan Buddhist teachers in China. He is a published scholar and popular speaker in leading universities on the mainland.
