Last Chance to Hike!

27 Mar

We had to reschedule the hike after the weather threatened to electrocute everybody.  It was pretty shocking.

The good news is that we’re set to go this weekend (Saturday, the 31st)!  If you were signed up before, you MUST CONFIRM with us by the end of the day if you still plan to come.  If you’re down for the count and missing out, let us know so we can let people on off the waitlist.

Today’s the day, to let us know. So email us at uhp@gwu.edu right now.

Still Time to Take a Hike

6 Mar

There’s still time to join Prof. Shepherd (and others!) for a casual hike in beautiful Shenandoah, “Big Schloss” to be exact.  We promise it looks much prettier than it sounds.

This is a different location than where we go for the fall hike; we want you to really see the world.

If you haven’t signed up yet, do it now, or forever live with regret.

When:  Saturday, March 24th.  The bus will leave the UHP office (714 21st Street) at 9 am, and be back to GW by 5.30 pm.

To signup: Drop off $5 cash at the UHP office.  Tell us your name, too.

Deadline to sign up: Tuesday, March 20th at 5pm.

It’s the Spring Hike! [Hike]

Prof. Shepherd leads the expedition!  Join him for a casual hike in beautiful Shenandoah — specifically, “Big Schloss.”  We promise it looks much prettier than it sounds.

This is a different location than where we go for the fall hike; we want you to really see the world.

Your $5 ticket buys you: Transportation! Light breakfast! Lunch! Views of nature! Exploration! Adventure! Camaraderie! Probably some cookies! The possibility of spotting bigfoot! The less likely possibility of befriending bigfoot! The highly likely possibility of walking on top of a mountain! Access to a real, live anthropologist! More!

For the rest of you, please stop in the UHP office to sign up and pay your $5 to reserve your spot.  The deadline to sign up and confirm your seat is Friday, September 23rd at 5pm. Hurry!

Last Chance: Sign up for the Hike (Waitlist)

7 Sep hike

***The Hike is now full!  You still have a chance at getting on the bus though.  Just let us know to add you to the wait list.  We’ll notify you if spots become available, and if you’re on the waitlist you can always try going stand-by on Saturday morning.***

Join fellow Honors students for the Stephens’ Hike along 5 miles of the Appalachian Trail on the crest of South Mountain in western Maryland. This won’t be a strenuous hike, more like a walk in the woods with a little scrambling in places to add some variety. Seats are limited and open to all Honors students. Transportation there and back, and lunch are included.

This is a well-loved tradition in the UHP, and seats fill up quickly — so hurry and reserve yours now! You can check out pics from other hikes at our Facebook page.

  • Costs $5 (Cash)
  • Saturday, September 10th, 9am-6pm (leaving from the University Honors Program Office)
  • DEADLINE to sign up: Today! Wednesday, September 7th

Stop by the office to leave $5 to reserve your spot.

Then, RSVP on Facebook! Yay! Social media!
