Tell Your Leadership Narrative!

7Register for this year’s Student Leadership Symposium, a free leadership conference right here at GW. The Student Leadership Symposium is a one day capstone conference for undergraduate students interested in developing and furthering their leadership skills.

The goal of this year’s conference is to empower students with the ability to tell their leadership narrative in a concise and impactful way. We have a day jam-packed with speakers who will help you hone your leadership skills and maybe even teach you something new. This year’s keynote is Frank Sesno, 
Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University, an Emmy-award winning journalist, and host and creator of Planet Forward.

Apply to be a Student Peer Advisor!

Student Peer Advisors (SPA) are dedicated to serving the UHP community by planning events, actively engaging with current and prospective UHP students, and representing the UHP as a whole. If you’re interested in taking control of your UHP experience and helping others succeed, consider applying to become a SPA! SPA members help fellow students with course selection, conflict resolution, time management and extracurriculars as well as provide a student perspective of the UHP to prospective students and parents.

Think you’re interested? Make sure to apply soon! The application deadline is this Friday, February 8th at 5:00pm. Applications should be submitted by email to uhpspa@gwu.edu with the subject line “SPA Application.” Please forward all questions regarding the application process to Eleanor Aldous (ealdous@gwmail.gwu.edu.). Decisions will be announced on March 4th.

The Diversity Affairs Commission (DAC) is a component of the executive branch of the Student Association.  The DAC will address issues that pertain to diversity.  All students are encouraged to apply and help promote our goal of embracing diversity on campus.  This body will consist of several director-level positions through which you can represent different constituencies or interests:

·         Director for Gender Affairs
·         Director for LGBT Affairs
·         Director for Race/Ethnicity Affairs
·         Director for Green (Environmental) Affairs
·         Director for Political Affairs
·         Director for Disability Affairs
·         Director for Religious Affairs
·         Other (i.e. Director for –fill in the blank–)

The application period closes on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 5:00 PM. Please e-mail this completed application and a current resume to Michael R. Komo – the Director of the Diversity Affairs Commission – via e-mail at michaelrkomo@gmail.com.  Please contact him with any questions or concerns regarding the application process.
