UHP Alumni Career Panel – International Affairs

Interested in a career in International Affairs? Want to join the Foreign Service? Yearning to head to graduate school abroad? Join us at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21 in the UHP Club Room to hear from three Honors Alums – Robert O’Brien, Erin Hohlfelder, and Tim Edge – about their experience in international affairs careers. Robert O'Brien, Erin Hohlfelder, and Tim Edge

Robert O’Brien, ESIA ’08, graduated from the University Honors Program summa cum laude. From 2008 to 2009 he was a Fulbright Scholar in the People’s Republic of China. Since December 2009 he has worked as a Research Assistant in the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution. He will begin graduate studies at Oxford University’s St. Antony’s College this fall.

Erin Hohlfelder, ESIA ’08, graduated from the University Honors Program summa cum laude.  From 2008 until the end of 2009, Erin worked as the Policy Associate for the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, hosted at the Sabin Vaccine Institute.  Since January 2010, Erin has worked as the Policy Manager for Health at the ONE Campaign.  In this role, she focuses primarily on infectious diseases and maternal and child health, as well as health financing mechanisms and broader African development topics.

Tim Edge, ESIA ’09, graduated from the University Honors Program summa cum laude. In the summer of 2009, Tim studied advanced Arabic in Morocco through the State Department Critical Language Scholarship program. That fall, he enrolled in the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. In May 2011, Tim completed his M.A. in Arab Studies and joined the U.S. Foreign Service. He just started his first assignment as a political officer on the Pakistan Desk.
