This just in from our very own Professor Shepherd:

Researcher: Chinese Heritage Policies

This position involves background research for a book project on the politics, practice, and purposes of cultural heritage preservation in China. The research assistant will conduct Chinese language database searches for Chinese government documents including policy papers, laws, and regulations; collect articles written by Chinese scholars on cultural heritage, cultural preservation, and museums in China; and briefly summarize in a paragraph the primary main arguments and subjects of each piece of data. The historical scope of the project is from 1911 until the present, with an emphasis on contemporary issues.

This position requires a very high level of literacy in Chinese and a minimum average of about three hours per week, though each week will vary.  We will also meet bi-weekly to discuss findings.

In addition to receiving 1 academic credit, the successful candidate will also be acknowledged in the published version of this work, a monograph in a series by Springer Press that is co-sponsored by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), an international body affiliated with UNESCO.
