Here’s a job listing that might appeal to some of you graduating seniors.  They ask for 1-5 years of experience or a “strong background in legislative, grassroots and coalition advocacy or politics.”   The full job posting is below:

Allegiance Strategies, LLC is a niche public affairs consulting firm focused on helping clients achieve a pro-growth, competitive and inclusive America.  Allegiance seeks to hire a hard-working, motivated individual as a Manager of Legislative and Administrative Affairs in Washington, DC beginning as soon as possible.  The successful candidate will provide legislative, grassroots, coalition, fundraising, finance and administrative support primarily for efforts to secure tax relief for family businesses and freedom for all Americans regardless of sexual orientation.


The Manager’s success would be measured by his or her ability to produce high quality work, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness, prioritize and make a solid, positive impact.  The Manager would have significant flexibility and must be self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently, as he or she would frequently work remotely or from home.  The position will provide an individual with an excellent opportunity to learn the business of legislative, grassroots and coalition advocacy, play an important role in the formulation of good public policy, and become a critical part at the ground level of a growing public affairs consulting firm.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in political science, government or related field,
  • Familiarity with and comfort and ease advocating for lower taxes and freedom for all,
  • One to five years of policy- or political-related work experience (e.g. government relations, legislative office or campaign) or strong background in legislative, grassroots and coalition advocacy or politics,
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state legislative processes and campaigns and elections,
  • Exceptional communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal), including public speaking,
  • Ability to learn and understand tax issues and present complex concepts to audiences with little tax background,
  • Satisfaction of thorough background check, and
  • Competency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.


  • Researches, prepares and coordinates fact sheets, op-eds, letters to the editor, briefing papers, notes to supporters, articles, memoranda, promotional materials and correspondence to legislators,
  • Attends legislative hearings, symposia and coalition meetings, helps develop contacts with and mobilize support from like-minded organizations, and maintains database of legislative intelligence,
  • Produces basic financials, handles client accounting and facilitates transactions, record-keeping and budgeting,
  • Provides general administrative support, including administering basic financials and accounting, scheduling meetings and conference calls and arranging travel,
  • Assists in engagement and management of relationships with supporters, including invoicing, and
  • Plans, organizes and executes events.
