Prof. Vann Picked for India NEH Institute!

4 Apr

Dr. Cheryl Vann, Adjunct Associate Professor of Honors, has been selected to participate in an NEH Institute in India during the month of July.

The institute subject of study is “The Historical and Cultural Development of Modern India” from the development of the Indus Valley Civilization to the modern (post-partition) era. Institute participants will study with Indian and American faculty primarily in New Delhi. Other study venues include Kurukshetra, Agra, and Varanasi.  This is Dr. Vann’s second NEH award.

In Summer 2008 she participated in an NEH Institute at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies at Oxford University.  In addition, in 2009, Dr. Vann was awarded a grant for a three-week field study in China during July under the auspices of the Asian Studies Development Program in Honolulu, Hawaii.   Dr. Vann is grateful for the Honors Program’s support and for the opportunity to help enrich the Honors curriculum.

Next time you see her, give her a congrats!  This is great news.
