Here’s an opportunity that may interest some of you.  Many Honors students have joined DPE in the past.

—————————————————————-

Delta Phi Epsilon is a professional Foreign Service sorority that seeks to provide professional development opportunities and support to women interested in international affairs. As a professional sorority, DPE annually hosts various influential speakers, political discussions, and special events that aim to bring awareness to timely issues in international affairs. DPE recently hosted:

  • -The Ambassador of Kasazkstan to the United States, Erlan Idrissov
  • -Bill Roggio, Editor of The Long War Journal and counter-terrorism expert
  • -Dan Ikenson, Associate Director for the Cato Institute’s Center for Trade Policy Studies, on Chinese-American trade relations
  • -A Young Professionals Panel with young women representing the Foreign Service, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Amnesty International
  • -Ambassador Jacobson, former ambassador to Guinea-Bissau
  • -Pizza and Politics discussions for members to debate international issues over dinner

In addition to these events, DPE also provides networking opportunities for sisters as well as professional development activities such as resume and interviewing skills workshops as well as study abroad and internship panels. DPe also maintains a database of classes and professors taken by sisters, study abroad surveys, and internship opportunities, and also a test bank. Members of DPE are also dedicated to community service, working with organizations such as Calvary Women’s Shelter, We R Family, and Hands on DC as well as bonding activities such as lock-ins, potlucks, and outings into the city such as ice-skating.

Delta Phi Epsilon is the only professional Foreign Service sorority and fraternity in the United States with chapters at Georgetown University, American University, NYU, and University of California-Berkely. Currently, George Washington’s Eta chapter sorority has 43 sisters and an alumnae network of 53. While this may seem small, one of the sorority’s main strengths is in the close knit community of women involved.

Those interested in DPE’s upcoming recruitment should visit www.gwdpesorority.org and fill out at application and view the recruitment schedule. Applications are due Saturday, January 23 at 11:59pm.

Please e-mail questions or request to join the recruitment listerv at dperecruitment@gmail.com.
