Go to the Freshman Day of Service [Recommended Events]

25 Aug

We encourage all freshman to participate in the Day of Service on September 11th.  Last year was a great success, and a lot of UHPers did it together.

The theme of this year’s Freshman Day of Service is “Giving Today for a Greener Tomorrow.”  Most service activities are focused on environmental sustainability, though some service sites will focus on meeting veterans’ needs or on hunger issues.  A brief outline of the GW Freshman Day of Service is listed below.

12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m., Opening Ceremony (Smith Center)
12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Travel to Service Sites and Engagement in Service Activities, (transportation provided)
4:30 p.m., Return to Campus, Arrival Back at GW
5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Closing Barbeque, Candlelight Vigil for National Day of Service and Remembrance

More than 1,600 members of the Class of 2014 have already registered for the event.

For more information and to RSVP, please contact Shannon Donahue, Coordinator of Freshman Day of Service, at 202-994-4304 or shannond@gwu.edu
